New EMS Solution for Communication Sites in the Gulf Region

Inmarsat Maritime and Aramco are trialing a world-first 5G mesh network to enhance high-bandwidth connectivity and operational efficiency for offshore sites in the Arabian Gulf.

Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat company, has partnered with Aramco to implement a 5G “mesh” network designed for offshore communication in the Gulf region. This solution leverages millimeter Wave (mmWave) technology and a mobile Integrated Access and Backhaul (mIAB) network to provide high-speed, reliable connectivity over water, far exceeding the previous 1 km range limitation of traditional 5G deployments .
