In PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology, the Ethernet link between the Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) and the Powered Device (PD) has a clearly defined maximum distance limit—328 feet (100 meters). This PoE max distance is set in the IEEE 802. 3af/at/bt Ethernet standards that define PoE and applies equally across all generations of PoE and types of Ethernet. PoE technology adheres to the same 100-meter (328 feet) distance limitation as standard Ethernet for both data and power delivery. This means that a PoE switch can reliably supply power to a compatible device up to this distance. Note that this isn't identical with the maximum length of an Ethernet cable. When you use a midspan, you should calculate the distance between the camera and the switch that the midspan is connected to.
